I had a period once for 4 months. Without BCP you're going to have irregular periods & heavy bleeding, also blood clots, breakthrough bleeding, & just it is going to be crazy overall. Also, u will want to be on Metformin, it will help with regulating blood sugars, insulin resistance, & weight loss. Weight loss promotes healthier periods & encourages ovulation.
You need to go to the doctor because this period could last for a very long time if it is left untreated. BCP will help regulate ur estrogen & hormone levels. Yaz, Yasmin, & the Patch have done wonders for women with PCOS. I prefer the Patch (since i've been on it I've had really light & ''happy'' periods that lasted for 3 days as opposed to 7 -9 days while on the pill), it is because the patch as 60% more estrogen than the pill. Women with PCOS that r not on BCP can have no periods for months or periods that last for months. When u do not have a period for MONTHS it can lead to endometrial hyperplasia- it is where ur uterine lining grows & grows & grows & grows & then sheds, when it sheds u bleed for months. Also, endometrial hyperplasia can lead to an enlarged endometrial stripe which can later lead to endometrial cancer.
So please go to the doctor & request BCP (birth control pills).
